It turns out that those folders were linked to Dropbox and uninstalling the program also removed every single file from my laptop. Very quickly, I realised all of my downloads and documents were gone from my Mac. Dropbox was taking up a lot of space but I checked the folder and it didn’t seem to have anything important in, so I deleted the program. Recently, I needed to clear some space on my Mac. I downloaded Dropbox a few years ago to keep some photos in.
